Our Mission of Legacy …

The Skipp Pearson Jazz Foundation (the Foundation) was launched in 2004 to realize the life-long mission of the late Skipp Pearson, the State of South Carolina’s second official ambassador for all interest related to Jazz music. The Foundation exists “to foster a greater appreciation” of the performing and visual arts in communities along the I-95 corridor and across America.

In 2010 the Foundation offered its first “arts-in education” initiative to preserve the rich history of live Jazz music. It is through the creation of innovative projects, as well as the presentation of a myriad of programs, that provides the Foundation the opportunities to be a benefit to all communities in which it serves.

Honoring the legacy of the late Ambassador Pearson, in 2017 the Foundation expanded its primary focus to address the issues of cultural literacy, and music preservation by fostering a comprehensive “public arts education” initiative for the benefit of all age groups.

It is to this end that in the ARTS we TRUST!
